Research and publication

We conduct in-house research in the areas in which we provide consulting services, including health, local development, indigenous knowledge systems, human ecology, and natural resource management. We collect and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data to inform the decision of our clients, as well as to advance knowledge in the areas of our work. We publicize our findings on our website and other outlets. We also offer online training and courses to public and academic institutions.

Organizational and Capacity Building Support

We provide services to support organizations at every stage of a project, irrespective of the size of the organization. We help organizations implement projects by developing project goals and design evaluation processes. Our team employs data collection and analysis tools including participatory rural appraisals, environmental impact assessments, visualization tools, interviews and surveys, as well as ethnographic and anthropological tools. We advise on project sustainability and develop appropriate capacity building training for project staff.

Stakeholder and Partner Engagement

Stakeholder involvement makes or breaks a project! We help organizations to negotiate the sensitive aspects of managing/meeting different stakeholders’ needs and perspectives. Our associates are embedded within both South African and international cultures, and use this experience to optimize project outcomes. We employ an objective science-based approach to our work but equally recognize the wisdom and lived experience of local people. We facilitate partnerships between institutions and community groups in South Africa and other countries across academic, business, nonprofit and government sectors.

“If you want the cooperation of humans around you, you must make them feel they are important - and you do that by being genuine and humble.”
